The Fitzpatrick Scale: A Quick Refresher

Developed in 1975 by Harvard dermatologist Thomas Fitzpatrick, the scale classifies skin into six phototypes based on how it responds to UV radiation — specifically, whether it tends to burn or tan after unprotected sun exposure.
